About Vale FC

Vale FC is a junior football club based in Maida Vale, London, running teams from U6s through to U12s. We're proud to be a community club, giving children just beginning their football journey the same access as those looking to be part of a team environment. We play in the Camden Junior League, with Saturday matches at Coram Fields. Training takes place at Paddington Recreation Ground.

Founded by a group of local parents in 2019 who wanted a club that took kids seriously without taking the fun out of the game, Vale FC has now grown to 7 teams and a children's development centre on the weekend.

Our colours are purple and white, and every child plays in the same kit regardless of ability or experience — we're a club for kids who love football, not just kids who are already good at it.

How to join — the trial process
Every new player joins a 3-week trial

What happens during the trial? The coach gets to know your child across the three weeks, looking at:

  • Technical ability and understanding of the game
  • Coachability — how they respond to instruction
  • Effort, attitude, and how they engage with teammates
  • Overall fit within the age group

What happens at the end? The coach speaks directly with the child and parent to share one of two outcomes:

Match days at Vale FC

We compete every week at Coram Fields, in the Camden Junior League. Each week, the coach selects a squad to play in that Saturday's match — anyone not selected is very welcome to come along and support the team, it's not a closed event.

Shin pads are essential to play.

Holiday camps

Vale FC runs holiday camps throughout the year, with dates released as soon as pitch availability is confirmed by Paddington Rec.

A typical camp week runs Monday–Thursday, 10:00am–2:00pm. Children should bring their own packed lunch, full kit essentials, and weather-appropriate clothing. Signed-up parents can view open camp weeks and register interest directly from their account.

Membership & fees

Vale FC subscriptions are collected on the 1st of each month via bank transfer. Monthly fees vary by age group — sign in or contact us for the current fee schedule. All subscriptions include two weekly one-hour training sessions and friendly matches. Weekend league matches are not included.

Frequently asked questions
Where does training take place?

All Vale FC training takes place at Paddington Recreation Ground, Randolph Avenue, London W9 1PF — a large park with multiple pitches, so it's important to know exactly where to go.

The main entrance is on Randolph Avenue. Once inside, the pitches used by Vale FC are in the [north / south / east] section of the ground. Each age group trains on a different pitch depending on the day — see the table below.

Age group Day & time Pitch / location in the ground
U6s[Day, time][e.g. Pitch 3, near the café]
U7s[Day, time][Pitch / location]

U9s[Day, time][Pitch / location]
U10s[Day, time][Pitch / location]
U11s[Day, time][Pitch / location]
U12s[Day, time][Pitch / location]

Finding the right pitch: Paddington Rec is large and the pitches aren't always clearly numbered from the gate. We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early for your first session. If you're lost, [call/text coach name on number] and they'll guide you in.

Does my child need football experience to trial?
No — we welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced players. What matters most is that your child is coachable, willing to listen, and ready to put in the effort. A positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn will always count for more than existing ability.
What age can my child start?
Our youngest age group is U6s, so children can join from the age of 5. That said, we find 5-year-olds do best when they've had some prior exposure to football — whether that's kicking a ball around in the park, a school PE session, or a local toddler class. If your child is 5 and completely new to the game, that's not a barrier, but do bear in mind our note on coachability and effort in the Does my child need football experience? FAQ above — the same applies at every age.
What if my child isn't selected for Saturday's match?
Every child not selected is welcome to come and support the team from the sideline — it's a normal part of a rotating squad. Throughout the year there are also plenty of friendly matches where most players will get the opportunity to play competitive football.
Do you have girls' teams / mixed teams?
Girls are very welcome at Vale FC and can play in our mixed teams alongside boys.

Who we are

Vale FC is a junior football club based in Maida Vale, London ("Vale FC", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for personal information collected through this app. Our contact for data queries is [email protected].

What data we collect

  • Trial enquiries — child's name, date of birth, preferred age group; parent/guardian name, email address, and phone number; any notes you choose to add.
  • Member accounts — email address and a securely hashed password (managed by Supabase Auth). We never store your password in plain text.
  • Holiday camp sign-ups — selected camp weeks and days, attendance status, and payment status.
  • Payment records — subscription status and payment dates. Card details are handled entirely by our payment provider and are never stored by Vale FC.

Why we collect it and our legal basis

We collect this information to manage club membership, process trial applications, coordinate training and matches, and handle holiday camp bookings. Our legal basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interests (running the club) and, where required, explicit consent (for children's data). We will not use your information for marketing without your consent.

Children's data

We collect some personal data about children under 13 (child's name, date of birth, age group). This data is treated with extra care under UK GDPR. It is collected via the parent or guardian submitting the trial form and is used solely for club management purposes.

How and where data is stored

Data is stored on Supabase, a cloud database platform. Our project is hosted in the EU (West Europe region). Access to the database is protected by Row-Level Security — only authorised club admins and the relevant account holder can view each record.

How long we keep it

  • Active member records — held while the child remains a registered player.
  • Trial enquiries that do not proceed to membership — deleted after 12 months.
  • Payment records — retained for 7 years as required by HMRC rules.

Third parties

We share data only with service providers who help us run the club: Supabase (database), Netlify (web hosting), and our payment provider (to be confirmed). We do not sell personal data to any third party.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you or your child
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to our retention obligations)
  • Object to or restrict how we process your data
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

Safeguarding

Our designated safeguarding officer is Coach Jamie. Any safeguarding concerns should be reported to them directly at [email protected].

ICO registration

Vale FC will be registered with the Information Commissioner's Office before processing personal data in production. Registration number: [to be added].

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the club's systems develop. The current version is always available via this link. Material changes will be communicated to registered families by email.
